Jewelry Care & Cleaning Instructions
Thank you for choosing Hawk Mountain Metals!
All of my pieces are thoughtfully crafted and intentionally designed to hide solder seams or incorporate them into my design. This allows me to work a variety of metals to achieve an attainable price point and the highest level of design. It also cuts out the plating process which uses many toxic chemicals that are harmful to our environment. This also means your piece can be maintained like any other piece of fine jewelry. Shine on you crazy diamond, and follow this advice:
Avoid contact with chemicals: Keep your jewelry away from household chemicals, perfumes, lotions or hair products.
Remove during physical activities: Take off your jewelry before engaging in activities that might cause sweating or contact with water.
Store properly: Store your jewelry in a dry, cool place, preferably in a jewelry box or a soft pouch.
Clean regularly: Clean your jewelry gently with a soft polishing cloth, I recommend sunshine brand for best results. You can also use steel wool for a deeper shine or a polishing cream to restore the original luster - I prefer Simichrome polish or Blue Magic 400. Always take care to avoid gemstones and follow the package instructions for safety and application. When in doubt, a soft brush and mild soapy water can remove most residue, just be sure to rinse thoroughly and dry well.
Handle with care: Most stones are delicate, and all metal can scratch or dent. Handle your jewelry with care and avoid dropping it on hard surfaces.
Need A Repair? I normally take this as a sign that your piece is well loved, but I also stand by my designs and offer free repairs for damages caused by structural flaws and quick fixes caused by normal wear and tear. I also offer affordable cleaning services, general repairs, and whenever possible, earring replacements. We all lose a favorite along the way...
